"This record was created out of anger and love and respect, and we’re proud to help the band get it out there in support of a punk legend." - Al C., Dromedary Records
SURPRISE RELEASE! We've teamed up with Dromedary Records and The 65's to release a cover of the New York Dolls' "Personality Crisis" to help raise funds for Dolls' guitarist Sylvain Sylvain, who is suffering from cancer. You can purchase the download for $3 or more, and we'll have a REALLY limited number of lathe-cut 7"s for $20. Every penny goes to Sylvain's GoFundMe.
Our disgust with the current healthcare system in America knows no bounds. Even more so when we learned the sad news that New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain is suffering from cancer, and is seeking help from friends and fans via GoFundMe.
In a nation as wealthy as the United States, we shouldn’t have to rely on GoFundMe as a way to help with medical expenses.
But we do, and our mutual disillusionment – and appreciation for the legends that created the music we love – caused us to team up with our friends at Dromedary Records to release a dynamite cover of the Dolls’ “Personality Crisis,” with every penny raised from sales donated directly to Sylvain’s GoFundMe.
"Singer-songwriter Ryan Struck, who flies under the moniker of Scary Hours, creates witty and unsettling anti-folk, informed by his past in hardcore punk bands...Struck is keen to vocalize his compelling diatribes on various matters regarding the state of the world, and does so with unbridled, tuneful panache." ~ Ghettoblaster
"Scary Hours denounces the conformity and franchising of daily life with the kind of lyrics that make you do a double take and think to yourself “wait, did he really just say that?” ~ Forhitsandgigs
"NJ-based acoustic punk outfit Scary Hours, who coined their name from an old Wu-Tang song, imbue their jangly tunes with a biting satirical edge. The band’s acoustic pop punk and filtered lens radiates the confrontational ethos of hardcore—a bit like a Bukowski-esque version of Bright Eyes, or possibly a pissed off Plain White T’s high on Ritalin." ~ The Vinyl District
